Alberta NxS Tour

The whole crew brunching at Gasoline Alley.

Hey! This month I was lucky enough to join some outstanding Alberta artists - Kimberley MacGregor, Burning Bridge (Steven William Foord & Megan Brown), and Ryan Phillips of The Silkstones - on a little tour that took us to some cool spots in Southern and Central Alberta and beyond.

My participation started in Lloyd at The Root where I got to be Dink Burns and play lap steel with the Kimberley MacGregor Band. The Root is such a great venue and the staff are such great hosts; it's always a pleasure to play there. After the show, sick hangz commenced, some highlights being speaking the real español with Megan Brown, and some strange tooth-brushing antics that it wouldn't serve to get into here.

Our next stop was Tracks Pub, which must be party central in Olds because the place was pumping for a Wednesday night. Should it ever come up for debate, it was at this show in Olds that Kimberley MacGregor was first described by a canny audience member as "the sassy, angry one from Edmonton." Thanks again to Tyler Allen hooking us up with the show and to his mum Joanne for putting us up / putting up with us for the night.

A house show at Trish and Stew's in Red Deer with fine feathered friends and and an endless supply of homemade chocolate treats for the road? You betcha! Another house show hosted by Mike at Calgary's Bow Cabin followed by a day spent brunchin' with Jessica Marsh and Mariel Buckley? That's true! Waow!

Goofin' at CKXU 88.3 FM.

After a sweet little spot on Richard Amery's Hot Rock Blues Beat on Lethbridge's CKXU 88.3 FM, Kimberley and I headed to The Owl Acoustic Lounge and rejoined the gang for our evening show. The venue, which is actually owned by Steve from Burning Bridge, has a great energy, and I would highly recommend it to anybody passing through Lethbridge looking to play or hear live music.

The final show of the tour was a house show at new friend Holly's in Canmore. It was awesome to be able to play for, and then get to hear music played by members of what is clearly a super supportive and vibrant music scene!

Holy smokes!!! Lovely people, lovely people. Fun times, fun times.
